This post comes from a running argument I tried to have with Liberals, nominally about the Tea Party and Republicans.
First for your consideration:
Few signs at tea party rally expressed racially charged anti-Obama themes
A new analysis of political signs displayed at a tea party rally in Washington last month reveals that the vast majority of activists expressed narrow concerns about the government's economic and spending policies and steered clear of the racially charged anti-Obama messages that have helped define some media coverage of such events.
Emily Ekins, a graduate student at UCLA, conducted the survey at the 9/12 Taxpayer March on Washington last month by scouring the crowd, row by row and hour by hour, and taking a picture of every sign she passed.
Ekins photographed about 250 signs, and more than half of those she saw reflected a "limited government ethos," she found - touching on such topics as the role of government, liberty, taxes, spending, deficit and concern about socialism. Examples ranged from the simple message "$top the $pending" scrawled in black-marker block letters to more elaborate drawings of bar charts, stop signs and one poster with the slogan "Socialism is Legal Theft" and a stick-figure socialist pointing a gun at the head of a taxpayer.
...
But Ekins's analysis showed that only about a quarter of all signs reflected direct anger with Obama. Only 5 percent of the total mentioned the president's race or religion, and slightly more than 1 percent questioned his American citizenship.
{Emphasis added.}
You would never know this to watch the MSM coverage.
And you would never know it to talk with Liberals. Combining Liberals and Blacks seems to produce particularly toxic willful ignorance:
Morgan Freeman Sees Tea Party as 'Weak, Dark Underside of America'
Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman believes race relations within the United States are worse now than they were before President Barack Obama entered the White House. And he had no problem telling Piers Morgan of CNN just what he believed was the driving force behind the worsening relations: The tea party movement.
"Look at the -- look -- the tea partiers -- who are controlling the Republican Party, their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term. What's -- what does that -- what underlines that? Screw the country. We're going to do whatever we need to do to get this black man -- we can -- we're going to do whatever we can to get this black man out of here."
When the talk show host attempted to qualify, saying it was "not necessarily racist," Freeman forcefully interrupted, "It is a racist thing."
So, Freeman - and all the blacks and/or liberals who mindlessly agree with him - have
redefined racism.
I thought that racism meant "The vile practice of judging a person or people by the color of their skin, rather than the content of their character".
But in the world of Liberals, especially Black Liberals, it now means: "
Disagreeing with a Black person".
The only thing approaching facts that these folks can muster to bolster their opinions are the many pictures of racist signs allegedly from Tea Party events. So the Liberal Media Bias feeds this psychotic fantasy nicely.
There is no arguing with these people, either; they are immune to facts, logic and history.
When they wake up one day and decry real racism, they will discover, to their horror, that millions of Americans have been completely desensitized to any charges of racism applied to anybody - because the Black and/or Liberal axis blindly followed their leaders, who de-valued the word in the trivial pursuit of a temporary political advantage.
Here is the Tea Party sign those folks need to think about:
