A Droid 2 Is Like A Trophy Wife....

...after you marry her.

  • It looks really nice.
  • When it does what you want, it's wonderful.
  • It's high maintenance.
  • At random intervals, it becomes totally unresponsive for no visible reason.
My previous philosophy in phones was small, cheap, and simple-bordering-on-stupid.

But I saw one of these on the train, and said, I want

So I figured: "Why not? It's not like it's real money anyhow - they're just Federal Reserve Notes.   Even if it was still dollars, it would be trash.  Might as well have some fun while I still can."

It's got a slide out keyboard, so texting is merely painfully slow instead of agonizing.

It's got GPS and turn-by-turn navigation so - assuming I stay where there is data coverage - I'll stop getting hopelessly lost every time I go anywhere I haven't been before.

It's got reasonably good speech to text capabilities.

The screen has very high resolution so that it makes very good looking text (albeit too small for me to read).

So far I've had to power-cycle it something like 3 or 4 times.  Twice because it locked up solid as rock after it finished playing an MP3.  Once be cause it locked solid while doing nothing in particular.  Once because I couldn't figure out how to see my contacts anymore.  (That was me dealing with the UI, which is sometimes baffling.)

Most of these required sliding out the keyboard and using the new 3-fingered salute shift-alt-delete.  That's because that sequence is more powerful than just holding the power switch - go figure.

Oh well.... time to buy more guns and ammo.  Don't even ask about the 1911 and hollow-points, however.  Sore subject.  Suffice it to say that  it will be visiting its maker.

I Can't Draw Muhammed...

...because I can't draw anything.  [deleted text was here]  Anything beyond a crude network diagram on the back of an envelope is beyond my artistic skills.

So this borrowed drawing will just have to do instead.  It says it all anyhow.

UPDATE: I took out some very offensive text in deference to my recollection of some seemingly totally  "Americanized" Muslims I have known.  The picture and this entry remain for the rest.  All you Jihadis ready to be martyrs - be careful what you wish for. - bobn 10/12/2010

I Got Your Recovery Right Here....

This graph from here at Jesse's Café Américain:

(click for larger image in new window)

And his pithy analysis:

The recent 'recovery' in the SP 500 deflated by gold is instructive. This should help those who see no recovery in the real economy, but were confused by the amazing spike in the US equity market. It was a monetary phenomenon.

And his further analysis here of why banksters, especially Central Banksters, hate gold.

Enough "PC" Chatter

They aren't "undocumented workers".

They aren't "Illegal Immigrants".

They aren't even "Illegal Aliens".

They are INVADERS.

Their numbers are variously estimated at 12 to 20 million.  The U.S. military had 6 million troops in World War 2.

This is an invasion - they are the enemy - and those that support, enable, or aid them, in any way, are TRAITORS.

The crime of Treason is defined in the Constitution of the United States.  The penalty is frequently Death.

Congress and Obama need to really think  over iif it is worth what it will cost them going forward.

I'm FAMOUS!

Armed and Safe says: "I believe that being despised by the despicable is as good as being admired by the admirable".

By that standard, I'm good!

The ADL, which is acting as a tool for the administration in the same usless fasion as the SPLC, has released a report, found here, entitled "Violent Voices:
Anti-Government Extremism Takes on New Intensity".

In Chapter "IV. Daring to Call It Treason", Page 9, paragraph 4, appears this:

For many, hanging seemed to be the most appropriate “solution” to the allegedly treasonous acts committed by officeholders. “The Liberals suffer from excessively short necks,” wrote “Bobn” on the Tree of Liberty Forums on March 24. “I propose that a simple solution exists.”
In this case I was specifically referring to the Democrats in Ccongress, not to all Liberals.

From ambivalent Liberal to Right-wing extremist in less than 2 years - who'd'a thunk?

I'm so proud I could just burst.

Note to the ADL: I'm Jewish. I voted straight Democrat for more than 20 years. But the current crop of Liberals in Congress are in fact treasonous, and they are just getting started.

2nd note to the ADL: if you've been paying attention, you might notice that the current administration, whose dirty laundry you carry, is no friend of Israel. Be warned.

If you need me, I'll be out buying guns, ammo, and canned goods.

Lines Not To Be Crossed

These are perilous time. Let our "leaders" know that there are travesties they dare not commit.

[W]henever the legislators endeavor to take away and destroy the property of the people, or to reduce them to slavery under arbitrary power, they put themselves into a state of war with the people, who are thereupon absolved from any farther obedience and are left to the common refuge, which God hath provided for all men, against force and violence....
if a long train of abuses, prevarications and artifices, all tending the same way, make the design visible to the people, and they cannot but feel what they lie under, and see whither they are going, it is not to be wondered at that they should then rouse themselves, and endeavor to put the rule into such hands which may secure to them the ends for which government was at first erected
- John Locke, Second Treatise on Government

Since the thugs running the country have no respect for any rules, we have to look ahead to see where they could be going.

It's been said that we have 3 boxes to defend ourselves with: the soapbox, the ballot box and the cartridge box.

The soapbox has failed. The CONgress-critters and Executive ignored 9:1 calls against TARP; and they ignored 100s of thousands in the streets, and millions tying up their phonelines - along with numerous polls showing general opposition - on so-called Health Care Reform.

The Democrats are now making noises about the rest of their "agenda". I fear that the next thing up will be so-called Immigration Reform. This will involve amnesty for illegal immigrants. And if that also allows the Democrat-Statists to stuff the ballot box with 10 - 20 million votes, it ensures their dominance for decades, if not making us a de-facto 1-party country. Game over - we become strangers in our own land.

If the ballot box is denied us, there is only one box left.

So enfranchising those illegal immigrants - whose very presence in this country is a crime - must not even be attempted. That part of Immigration reform must not happen - even if other parts do. That one thing must remain inviolate. The first attempt at enfranchisement of illegals can only be seen as the path to tyranny, which any and every patriot is obliged to fight with all means necessary. This is not a threat. This is a warning - and a promise to our posterity.

I read a lot, and I believe that this might be the thing to push many over the edge. It is certainly in line with other indications.

The people of this country have reached their limit, as shown by the Rasmussen poll that just 21% of voters nationwide believe that the federal government enjoys the consent of the governed.

So that is a line that must not be crossed. In fact, it cannot even be approached.

And the other line that cannot be crossed is to try to remove the cartridge box. The guns and ammo are part of our natural birthright to self-defense. The 2nd Amendment affirms that that right shall not be infringed, for the very purpose of maintaining a free State:

This may be considered as the true palladium of liberty. . . . The right of self defence is the first law of nature - St. George Tucker, Blackstone's Commentaries 1:App. 300

Obama's Cousin Disses Obamacare

Obama's cousin is a doctor, and the points he raises are nightmarish.

Saw this on Hannity, who linked to the text here, including this bombshell:

As one example, consider the implications of Obamacare's financial penalty aimed at your doctor if he seeks the expert care he has determined you need. If your doctor is in the top 10 percent of primary care physicians who refer patients to specialists most frequently - no matter how valid the reasons - he will face a 5 percent penalty on all their Medicare reimbursements for the entire year. This scheme is specifically designed to deny you the chance to see a specialist. Each year, the insidious nature of that arbitrary 10 percent rule will make things even worse as 100 percent of doctors try to stay off that list. Many doctors will try to avoid the sickest patients, and others will simply refuse to accept Medicare.

Far-reaching and Potentially Devastating Ramifications

The title is a quote from Customs and Border Protection Area Port Director Rolando Suliveras Jr. on the seizure of 30 TOY GUNS.

Yes, Airsoft toy guns. Our tax dollars hard at work were, baby!

Of the same seizure, BATFE Special Agent Kelvin Crenshaw said the toys can be easily retro-fitted into dangerous weapons. "With minimal work it could be converted to a machine gun," Crenshaw said.

But everydaynodaysoff lists the problems with this "minimal work", highlights are:

  • The WE TTI M4’s lack any sort of functional gas tube which is integral to an AR15’s operation
    ......
  • The stock trigger pack in the WE TTI cannot strike the firing pin of a AR15 bolt
  • The body of the WE TTI lower is several mils thinner than an AR15 lower, and shims would be needed for any AR trigger pack to work
  • ....one of the AR15 trigger pack retaining pins is impossible to insert without major modification, and the hammer isn’t operable with the WE TTI lower.

The Airsoft gun is a plastic toy that uses compressed air to shoot plastic balls. If you could actually get it to shoot real ammo, it would be far more dangerous to the shooter than to any target.

Other than that, no problems!

Note to the Federal Government: You just stay classy and competent like this. Staying on this path, you'll soon lose even the shallow claim to legitimacy you currently "enjoy".

Per Rasmussen, "just 21% of voters nationwide believe that the federal government enjoys the consent of the governed". And, same link, "Seventy-one percent (71%) of all voters now view the federal government as a special interest group, and 70% believe that the government and big business typically work together in ways that hurt consumers and investors. "

So, what happens when that 70+ percent of people - that believe that the Fe(de)ral Government is crapola - start acting on that, through disobedience, civil or otherwise? Once that happens, the results will be ugly.

"Far-reaching and Potentially Devastating Ramifications" indeed!

"America is at that awkward stage. It's too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards."

It just gets later every day.

Best IRC Q/A Ever!

Gotta love the enthusiasm:
<+FarmDad> ok a poll for the gals ... does the " Gspot " exist ?
<+breda> YES
<+Snigs> YES
<+Wing> YES

About Me

I'm a 57 year old geek. I voted Democratic for 20 years, because I disliked the Republicans more. But now, nobody really speaks for me. I'm for Guns, for more correct government regulation of the financial world, against illegal immigration and amnesty. (in 2008 I ended up voting Republican - too many questions about Obama, and voting against anybody who voted for TARP 1.) In 2010 I voted a stright republican ticket because the Democrats have completely lost their minds.
